Education is crucial to achieving the goals of the European Green Deal (link), as it enables citizens to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for the ´green transition´. In autumn 2021, the European Commission intends to present a recommendation on education for environmental sustainability for learners of all ages and at all levels of education. This has already been announced in the EU Biodiversity Strategy (link) and the Communication on the European Education Area (link).

Until 24 September 2021, citizens, teachers, researchers, governmental and non-governmental organisations and stakeholders still have the opportunity to share their views on education for environmental sustainability in the field of education and training and thus contribute to the future recommendation.
