The European Digital Education Hub – an online community connecting education stakeholders from across Europe

As a key initiative of the European Digital Education Action Plan, the Hub aims to overcome the current fragmentation of digital education policy, research and implementation practices at European level. It is implemented by DAAD together with other European partner organisations on behalf of the European Commission.

The Hub offers a wide range of activities, including:

  • Workshops and webinars on current trends in digital education
  • Publications on innovative approaches and developments in digital education
  • Networking and peer learning opportunities to connect practitioners across Europe
  • Discussion forums to co-create new solutions in digital education
  • Mentoring and training programmes for educators and learners

The Hub regularly invites experts and scholars to explore particular aspects of digital education and contribute short, evidence-based papers. These papers focus on highly topical issues such as AI, digital literacy or sustainability, and are shared with the community. Some of this work is showcased here, providing valuable insights into the latest developments in digital education at European level.

The paper presents digital education practitioners from the outermost regions of the EU. Although very different, these regions share a number of common challenges. The combination of remoteness, employment concerns and good internet access makes them an interesting case study for anyone interested in digital education.

Digital Education In The EU’s Outermost Regions

The paper explores how digital learning can be reimagined to promote inclusivity and equity for all learners. It moves beyond traditional narratives of the ‘digital divide’, focusing instead on systemic inequalities that digital education can either reinforce or address. It offers insights into addressing material, cultural and geopolitical inequalities in digital learning, and practical guidelines for designing inclusive and equitable educational platforms.

Justice Oriented Digital Education

This paper explores gamification and game-based learning for young children. It shows how digital games can enhance motivation, problem solving and critical thinking, while making learning fun and interactive. Examples include augmented learning, digital escape rooms and scavenger hunts. Guidance is given on how to balance screen time, adapt game content and ensure games are age appropriate.

Early Childhood Digital Education

This paper takes a look at how Erasmus+ is leading the way by encouraging green travel, virtual exchanges and going paperless. With initiatives like the European Student Card, Erasmus+ is making it easier to explore the world while reducing our carbon footprint.

Sustainability Through Digital Lens

The paper takes a look at the evolving landscape of digital assessment – how technology is changing the way we measure and assess learning and skills. It identifies key shifts and types of digital assessment, practical insights for implementation and policy recommendations, as well as challenges and opportunities for educators and learners. Stay ahead of the curve and discover how digital tools are reshaping assessment methods in education and beyond.
